days: everything until now.

okay apparently i am disappointing people by not updating… anyway, here is a brief rundown:

seattle: baseball, pike place market, starbucks, getting lost in the university district, canadian breakfast, brazilian admirers, TRUCKS - garbage trucks, recycling trucks, food trucks, trucks of all kinds keeping me up at night, uncomfortable beds, fresh fruit, pretty sure i saw jimmy fallon.

new york: made some australian friends who are a little older (24, 27, 29) but they’re fun; brooklyn bridge, staten island, times square, les bars, west village (my love), magnolia, central park, museum of natural history, top of the rock, soho, upper west, and everything in between.

and tomorrow i go to brooklyn.

the end.

omg did you like uw?~
it's my second choice school, so yeah.

oh yeah you know it’s alright…

(the campus makes my uni look like crap in comparison)

I'm jealous that you're in Seattle. Before you go to the Red Sox-M's game, you should go to Uwajimaya down in the International District (not far from Safeco)! Where are you staying in Seattle? How long are you there? YOU CAN TAKE A FERRY TO MAH HOMETOWN! (Don't.)

I WANT TO TAKE A FERRY TO YO HOMETOWN. is uwajimaya a japanese place? if so i will go. i wanted japanese tonight but the place i found was closed by the time i got back from uw (i went to uw by the way, inadvertently really).

days six and seven: in search of the mysterious food cart

i think sunday was the last time i updated? i’m in seattle now, eating cherries i bought at pike place market, and missing portland a little. sunday night i walked around the nob hill area (of portland, not seattle - it’s weird, things in portland are named after things in san fran and things in seattle are named after things in portland, or something, i keep seeing the same names), had dinner at a restaurant owned by mcmenamin’s (portland brewing company) and tried a few of their beers. monday was spent on a bus with mostly old people (they were very nice, but old) going to mt st helens, which was kinda creepy (the mountain, not the old people). there’s a massive crater in it where it blew its top & side off, and a lava dome is growing in the middle of the crater. also saw two elk on the side of the road (anterless, but alive), a big herd of antler-bearing elk far away, and the best thing ever… a chipmunk! it came up really close, i assume it must have been a savvy chipmunk that knew tourists had food.

monday night i went to the mission theatre pub and saw macgruber (awful, awful movie) but the pub/cinema is pretty awesome - set out a little like a restaurant with a big cinema screen.yesterday (tuesday) was spent walking around portland some more, taking advantage of the no sales tax, and saks closing down - i got a versace sweater for $17.50. no lie. my main quest was to find an amazing food cart - they’re legendary in portland, but the ones i’d seen so far were unappealing. i did end up finding the philly cheesesteak cart - also serving burgers - in pioneer courthouse square. and oh my god. best cheeseburger of my life.

the train trip from portland to seattle was pretty amazing - the sun never really set until we got there, around 10pm. i talked to a few guys on the train, around my age, they both attempted to imitate my accent - and failed. as usual. and i’ve just spent over two hours trying to upload photos and am going slightly insane so i think it’s time for some sun…
